In this second program of the series, join us to discuss the impact that new building codes will have on community associations and how local governments can help support associations through this transition through education, outreach, policy and programs.  We’ll learn some of the challenges and opportunities our multifamily communities are facing, what other cities are doing to help and to explore the possibility and resources available to better plan for addressing the aging infrastructure of our communities.

August 2014 – Are You Ready?! Community Emergency Preparedness @ Leo Ryan Park

Is your house safe? Where are the Emergency supplies? Important papers, did they get out with you? Where can you go for help? How can you help your neighbor? How long will it take for the 9 Foster City on duty firemen to get to your home?

To find out the answers to these questions and more, on Aug 17th Leo Ryan Park will become command central for Emergency Preparedness in a family friendly, fun, interactive environment. Led by the Foster City Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) and the Foster City Fire Department, the day will focus on finding out the skills you will need to take care of yourself, your family and your community for that first 72 hours after a major emergency. Information on the county programs that will support Foster City will be available as well as Vendors providing you sources for purchasing Emergency Supplies.

Be prepared. Join living!LOCAL “Are You Ready” Foster City Emergency Preparedness Day, on Sunday August 17th from 11 – 3pm. Presented by The City of Foster City and the Foster City Chamber of Commerce.

The 110 color pages of the living!LOCAL Guide is divided into 6 sections: Where to Live; Where to Work; Where to Play; Restaurant Guide; Chamber Member Directory and Business Listing. Each section is filled with amazing photos and infographics about Foster City showing the hugely diverse community filled with a whole lot of style and culture.

The pictorial journey highlights Foster City’s unparalleled beauty on the Peninsula.  A place where you can work with the best and brightest, dine around the world in 4 square miles, catch big air at the Pointe or just chill. A place where the built and natural environment are stimulating.  Where there is diversity of people and thought, creating a sense of community, and where there is a vibrancy spurred by culture and activity.  The quality of life is all about where and how you live, work and play.

November 2013 – Taste the Magic – Edgewater Shopping Center

Screen Shot 2014-09-24 at 7.29.49 PM“Taste the Magic” was held at Edgewater Place on November 9th, 2013. It is the second event in a series of events being introduced to the Foster City community under the newly launched living!LOCALTM campaign, a collaborative effort between the City of Foster City and the Foster City Chamber of Commerce.

“Taste the Magic” put the spotlight on Edgewater Place and brought the community out to support local businesses with an afternoon filled with food, fun and music. With tasting stations and special offers provided by Edgewater Place participating restaurants and businesses and live music provided by Classic Vinyl, the community came out in support of living!LOCALTM and enjoyed an afternoon on the boardwalk.

Additional living!LOCALTM events are planned with more details to follow in the coming months. In the meantime, spread the word and help foster the Foster City living!LOCALTM campaign by supporting the national movement known as “Small Business Saturday” this November 30th. “Shop Small” while living!LOCALTM.

TownePlace Suites

TownePlace Suites is a 121-room extended stay hotel. The 1.69-acre project site is located at 1299 Chess Drive in the Vintage Park neighborhood and the site of the former Black Angus site. The proposed hotel building will be 69,715 square feet in size and five stories tall.
