The inaugural Foster City 5K Fun Run, held on June 30, was a resounding success, drawing a lively crowd of enthusiastic participants and community spectators. This community event not only promoted health and fitness but also brought together families and individuals in a festive atmosphere filled with unique attractions and competitive spirit.

One of the day's highlights was the much-loved photo booth featuring the "Golden Trophy Boy," a playful nod to classic sports trophies. This quirky addition provided a perfect photo op, capturing the fun and camaraderie of the day. Attendees also enjoyed a variety of props, adding a fun and energetic element to the event’s family-friendly environment.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, many runners and attendees dressed in imaginative costumes, making the run not just a race but a parade of creativity and community spirit. From inflatables to rock stars, the costumes brought smiles and laughter, enhancing the day’s joyful mood.

The competitive spirit was high as Anthony Cortes, a seasoned runner known for his speed and endurance, finished first with an impressive time of 17 minutes and 15.64 seconds. Anthony, who participates in over 80 races yearly, expressed his enthusiasm for the Foster City 5K Fun Run, stating, "This was a fantastic race! The community vibe and the well-organized event have definitely earned a spot on my annual race calendar."

To further energize the event, attendees enjoyed live music performances by local Bay Area bands RM-RF and Misunderstood. These bands brought an electrifying presence to the festival atmosphere. Their performances were a hit, adding a vibrant soundtrack to the day’s activities and leaving the crowd enthusiastic for more.

“We are thrilled with the turnout and the positive energy everyone brought to our first 5K Fun Run,” said Crystal Tilton, Executive Director of the Foster City Chamber and the event organizer. “It was fantastic to see the community come together to enjoy a day of fun, fitness, and a little friendly competition. We’re already looking forward to making next year bigger and better and making this an enduring tradition for Foster City.”

The Foster City 5K Fun Run was made possible thanks to the generous support of local sponsors and volunteers who share a commitment to promoting health and vibrant community life.
